Subject: [SDF] October 2024 Vintage Systems Report
Here is the October report! The BOOTSTRAP membership started last September
just as we were preparing for the Fall Interim Computer Festival, so like
last month, this month includes more of our first annual renewals.
But first, an update on the Beige Box LAN Party event held yesterday! We
had 14 folks in attendance mostly playing Doom, Duke Nukem and Quake. Set
up began at 10:30 and special effort was made to get as many people configured
and working prior to serious game play. There were a couple of runs to RE-PC
to pick up LAN and sound cards. Special thanks to JP and Rick for handling
network serves and debugging various issues. Prize to the largest working
CRT went to Katie for her 14" trinitron (there were only two others CRTs)
and sickest setup went to Hayden for her dual display HP Oscilloscope running
Windows 98.
We will likely do another BBLP in February with attention in getting Unreal
Tournament and StarCraft working as well. The archive page including photos
can be found here: https://sdf.org/icf/events/bblp_fall_2024/
